Thanks to funding provided by the Australian Government under the South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network (SEMPHN), Family Life is pleased to announce a new free counselling service for school aged children and young people.
This funded service is aimed at school aged children, without a mental health diagnosis, who will benefit from a brief period of therapeutic support to assist them to overcome stress or anxiety resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Priority access will be given to children aged 12 and under.
The service will be provided by Family Life’s therapeutic services, social enterprise Heartlinks and can be accessed without a referral from a GP via the SEMPHN Access and Referral Team.
About: Family Life has been working with vulnerable children, families and communities since 1970. At the core of our organisation is our vision to build capable communities, strong families and thriving children.
We take an all of family, all of community approach to build resiliency and healthy relationships and are committed to improving responses to child vulnerability and family violence by achieving better outcomes for victim-survivors and communities.
Family Life recognises the importance of ensuring that voices of children are heard and their best interests are always served. This is driven by an evidence-based response to the needs of traumatised children and their families.
