Family Life’s purpose to transform lives for stronger communities is strengthened by the support of the wider community in a variety of ways. Whether you come up with your own idea or join us for our Community appeals, the support is always greatly received.

Outlined below are some examples of how the community supports vulnerable and disadvantaged children, young people and families:

Annual Christmas appeal

Every year Family Life seek donations and gifts to share with families in our community to help alleviate the challenges that the festive season often represents. A Christmas Corner is set up in our service centres for the community (individuals, families, schools or workplaces) to donate gifts. Family Life’s parents and carers then visit to select gifts for their children, teenagers or partners. More information about this years Christmas Gift Appeal will be available in November.

Ksafekids

Over the past 18 months Ksafekids has provided 30 courses of basic first aid training and family support to enhance health literacy FREE of charge to Family Life clients. The program has been offered to clients and their families involved with Family Life as well as participants of the Circle of Security and Creating Lasting Connections groups. Individuals participate in a two hour safety session focussing on the delivery of basic skills and knowledge relating to what to do in a first aid emergency.

Halloween Trick or Treating
1st Brighton Ranger Guides undertook a community drive with a difference. For Halloween the Guides asked local residents for non-perishable food items for Family Life clients. Instead of sweets they received canned goods, cereal and packets of pasta to contribute to food hampers to be distributed at Christmas time.

Back To School Community Appeal

Individuals throughout the community have donated school uniforms, stationary and lunch boxes to Family Life to help ease the financial pressure on vulnerable families as they prepare their children to start school or return for the new school year.
