Home in Focus

Home in Focus, currently in pilot phase, is a free and voluntary program for families living in the Bayside Mornington Peninsula Area where Family Violence has occurred, and the family unit remains living together.

About This Program

Home in Focus offers tailored therapeutic support to each family member, aiming to create lasting, positive change. We focus on empowering parents, fostering safe environments, and prioritising the voice and well-being of children every step of the way.

  • Fathers are paired with their own practitioner, while mothers and children work with a shared practitioner over a 20-week period.
  • Our approach prioritises safety of our clients at all times by assessing risks, family dynamics, and individual needs through a collaborative, holistic lens—ensuring strong connections and lasting change.
  • We amplify the child’s voice, placing their needs at the forefront of family decisions and safety planning. Parents are encouraged to pursue personal growth without any stipulations regarding remaining together or separating
  • We integrate evidence-based strategies to address family violence, childhood trauma, and parenting challenges, facilitating healthier, safer interactions within the family.

The program aims to alleviate the shame that many men who have used family violence often feel, by providing a safe, non-judgmental space for them to reflect on their past actions. It empowers men to take personal responsibility for their behaviour and choices. By focusing on personal growth, accountability, and positive change, the program encourages men to adopt new approaches that enhance their ability to contribute positively to the safety and well-being of their families.
