When families go through separation, children often have big feelings and lots of questions. What About Me? creates a safe, fun space where primary school children can share their experiences, make new friends who understand, and learn ways to handle the changes in their family.
About This Program
What About Me? has been developed to support primary school aged children who have experienced separation, high conflict, family violence and/or reside with only one of their parents. What About Me? is a safe, fun program helping primary school children understand and cope with family separation through:
- Creative activities
- Supportive discussions
- Play therapy
- New friendships
Groups run each school term, 4:30pm – 6:00pm after school at locations in Frankston and Sandringham

Is This Program for My Child?
What About Me? is available for all primary school aged children who have experienced family separation.
This program helps children who:
- Are primary school age
- Have separated parents
- Need extra emotional support
- Want to meet others in similar situations
- Are experiencing family changes
How We Help
Our group facilitators guide children and families through meaningful experiences using art therapy, child-centred play therapy, and peer-supported group therapy.
Our facilitators are skilled and experienced professionals who are passionate about supporting families within the child and family welfare community. The groups are designed with the child’s needs in mind, and facilitators always prioritise the wellbeing and safety of each child, working within the child safe standards frameworks.
