FAQs
You are not accepting external or self referrals at the moment, will I be able to attend your group programs in the future?
When group demand has led to extensive waitlists, Family Life may close the waiting list, meaning no external or self-referrals will be accepted. It may be possible to join a group in the future with Family Life, it just means you cannot be added to the waiting list. If you are still interested in attending a group at Family Life please check this page regularly for updates on future groups and information about how to register in these programs.
I have submitted the request for support form – what happens now?
We will contact you to confirm you have been added to the waiting list. We will then reach out when there are places available in the group program. If you are available for the group, we will complete an intake process with you over the phone.
Am I expected to attend all sessions? What if an emergency situation comes up?
To get the most out of your program, we recommend attending all sessions, however we understand this is not always possible. If you cannot attend a session, please let your group facilitator know as soon as possible.
When will I receive my completion certificate (for Circle of Security, Tuning in to Kids or Tuning in to Teens)?
There is a certificate of completion granted to attendees for eligible groups, including Circle of Security, Tuning in to Kids and Tuning in to Teens. Certificates are sent to participants who have completed eligible groups in full, requiring attendance for the full duration of all sessions. If you miss a session you are encouraged to continue attending the group, however you will not attend a certificate of completion.
What are the fees?
The families and communities groupwork programs at Family Life are free programs for those living in the Bayside Peninsula region.
Are groups run in person or online?
We have groups run in person (at a variety of locations in the Bayside Peninsula area) and online. To find out where the groups are running each term, access the term flyers above. If you have further questions about the location, you can call us on (03) 8599 5433.
How do I know which group is best for me?
Each group above has an associated flyer, which provides eligibility and suitability information for each group, which will guide which group is best for you. If you still have further questions, please contact us on (03) 8599 5433.
How many participants are in each group?
There are a number of factors we consider when deciding upon group size and this will vary across our programs. While these numbers may vary for different groups, there won’t be more than 15 adult participants in any of our groups.
How do I remove myself from the waitlist- I no longer want to attend the program I registered for?
If you no longer wish to attend a group program at Family Life, please contact us on (03) 8599 5433 and let us know.
I have another question about the groupwork programs – who can I contact?
Feel free to call (03) 8599 5433 during business hours to discuss any further questions you have about the groupwork program.
I am keen to discuss the specific situation and needs I have as a parent, will these group programs give me that opportunity?
No, these group programs only provide a general approach to psychoeducation around development. If you are seeking a targeted and personal program please call (03) 8599 5433 to discuss the suitability of alternative programs run by Family Life.
