Op Shop Donation Guide

Thank you so much for choosing Family Life to donate your preloved quality items. The following information will help you understand how and where you can donate. If you are unsure what is suitable, a general rule of thumb is to ask yourself – “Would I give this to a friend or relative?” or “Would I pay money for this?”.

Through the generosity of people like you, Family Life is able to support families, individuals and children through our programs and services. All proceeds stay local, supporting the local community.

At The Shop

Anything you can put in a bag and carry can be donated directly to Family Life’s op shops, for example, clothing, shoes, bric-a-brac, toys and books. Please only donate items during opening hours.

We Can’t Take Everything

It’s hard to say “no thank you” to a donation however, we do need to refuse some items either due to legal requirements, or because the item is too big or heavy. Some items must be refused because it costs more to transport, repair or refurbish than it can be sold for in our op shops. If you are unsure, please give our Warehouse team a call to discuss further.

Items we cannot take include baby furniture, mattresses, large or extremely heavy pieces of furniture, used carpet, and building materials. Please keep this in mind when you are preparing to drop off a donation.
