Store Spotlight - Brighton!

The Brighton Op Shop has just ticked over one year since opening its doors, and what a year it’s been! We sat down with the Brighton team to discover what makes this store unique and why locals love shopping there.

Many thanks to Cath (Retail Assistant), Maureen, Luisa, Fiona, Barbara and Gillian for participating in the Spotlight on Brighton!

What makes your op shop special?

Everyone who walks through the Brighton store door is made to feel welcome. As volunteers, we love engaging with the community and believe we’re helping to combat loneliness in a small way. Many people come in just for a chat, and that connection matters.

What is unique about this store?

The marble! Brighton has a fantastic selection of designer wear and feels like a boutique. The vintage section is a highlight. And of course, the lovely volunteers and our amazing managers, Lisa and Cath, make it truly special.

What is the most interesting thing you have sold in the store?

There have been so many! A pair of bright green Doc Martens with a lightning bolt down the side – sold to a lady who goes to festivals. An incredible sphere ornament that flew out the door. And a giant Christmas wreath, a metre wide, purchased by one of our best customers – the local jeweller.

Three words to describe the perfect op shop:

Volunteers. Layout. Music.

Any other comments about the store?

The fabulous volunteers, the great camaraderie, and the inclusiveness. Everyone is positive, passionate about Family Life, and working toward the same goal. It’s a wonderful team to be part of.
