Volunteer Engagement Coordinator (Paid Position)

Family Life is seeking a passionate and skilled Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to strengthen our volunteer program and build the capacity of volunteer‑involving organisations across the Bayside community.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on connecting people, building relationships, and supporting meaningful community engagement.

The Opportunity

Working within the Volunteer Engagement Team and embedded in a cross-functional project team, you will coordinate the recruitment, onboarding, training and support of volunteers participating in our place‑based community initiatives. You will also work closely with local organisations, community groups and partners to strengthen their volunteer capability, creating a more connected and resilient volunteering ecosystem.

You will lead volunteer events, deliver training, support program delivery, and ensure compliance with volunteer management processes. This is a hands‑on role with real impact in strengthening community engagement and participation.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Attract, recruit, onboard and support volunteers across a range of programs and activities
  • Deliver volunteer training, induction and engagement activities
  • Support the delivery of volunteer-led community activities
  • Build the capacity of local organisations to strengthen their volunteer programs
  • Coordinate volunteer events, recognition activities and community engagement initiatives
  • Maintain volunteer records and systems (Salesforce)
  • Build strong relationships with volunteers, staff, partners and referral organisations
  • Ensure safe, inclusive and best‑practice volunteer experiences

About you

You will bring:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in volunteer coordination or community engagement
  • Strong communication, facilitation and relationship‑building skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with attention to detail
  • Experience delivering training or group facilitation
  • A collaborative, proactive and community‑minded approach
  • Understanding of issues affecting vulnerable communities
  • CRM experience (Salesforce desirable)
  • A valid Victorian Driver’s License and reliable vehicle
