Make a real difference locally while leading  vibrant, community-minded retail stores.

Your New Role

Join our team and take the lead in overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of our community‑connected stores in the Mornignton Peninsula (Bunurong Land). You’ll guide and support a dedicated team of volunteers while helping create a warm, engaging and positive customer experience. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a lively, friendly community where no two days feel the same.

Our Community Store team prides itself on designing modern, visually engaging retail environments. We foster a culture that celebrates creativity, innovation and continuous improvement—encouraging you to bring your ideas to life and make each store an inspiring place to visit and work. Your creative flair, enthusiasm and enjoyment of hands‑on retail moments will shine here.

With a focus on meaningful customer experiences, thoughtful visual merchandising, effective stock and space management, and strong sales performance, you’ll help us uphold and celebrate Family Life’s culture. Our Community Stores serve as vibrant hubs of connection and purpose, and we’re seeking Assistant Retail Managers who lead with heart, energy and a genuine passion for community. If you’re a natural people leader with solid retail experience and a desire to make a difference, this could be the perfect fit.

Your skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will bring a genuine passion for fashion and charity retail, along with a creative flair for visual merchandising. You’ll enjoy curating engaging and welcoming store environments, using creativity to support promotions, events and an inspiring customer experience.

You will have proven retail management experience—ideally in apparel, homewares or second‑hand retail—and be confident in cash handling, register operations, and opening and closing procedures. Comfortable working both independently and while supervising others, you’ll lead teams with empathy, warmth and clear communication, particularly when supporting volunteers.

Highly organised and adaptable, you’ll be able to juggle priorities in a busy, people‑focused environment while embracing new systems and technology. You’ll be available to work weekends and public holidays, sometimes at short notice, and bring a strong community‑minded attitude with a genuine passion for making a positive difference.
