Social Enterprise Op Shop Update

It is fair to say that COVID-19 has had a dramatic impact on our opportunity shops.

In response to the Victorian Government’s decision to declare a State of Emergency, and to protect our much-valued volunteers and staff, on Wednesday 18 March the decision was made to suspend any volunteering until further notice. Following that all our beloved Op Shops closed their doors on the 24th March.

But in traditional Family Life style, we were not to be defeated. After a momentous effort we were able to launch our online store to the community only two weeks later.

The Online Community Store has allowed our loyal customer base to continue to shop throughout the isolation period. Whilst this has been managed by our Op Shop staff, we have certainly felt the love and support of our volunteer and customer community.  Here is the website https://familylifeonlineopportunityshop.com/

And now.. it is with great excitement that we are starting the gradual process of re-opening our physical stores. Whilst these locations will be manned with staff in the initial phase, we are aiming to have volunteers return to stores from July.

Black Rock was the first store to re-open on Monday 1st June and Highett opened its doors commencing 9th June. More details about the other store operating hours will be distributed shortly. Please visit the website to get more information, or call Family Life on 0425-758653

The first shop to open with staff only was Black Rock – opened Monday 1 June.
Days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Hours: 11am – 4pm

The second shop to reopen with staff only will be Highett – opened Tuesday 9 June.
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
Hours: 11am – 4pm

We know many of you will be excited and want to stop by and say ‘hi’ to the team. We look forward to seeing you.

Please be mindful of limits on the number of customers allowed in the stores at any one time and remember to maintain physical distancing. There will be clear signage at all locations.
