Creating future leaders with Family Life
Building leadership skills in young people is essential to creating a future of positive change. Family Life’s Young Leaders for Change helps school-aged individuals to find their voice in a supportive group, identify a problem in their community and develop solutions to remedy it.
The program places the power of change in the hands of young people.
Who’s it for?
Aimed at young people, we work with local schools and community organisations to implement the program. Family Life’s Young Leaders program is for schools and community groups that:
- Work with young people
- Want to empower young people
What is Young Leaders for Change?
The program is built around the international curriculum of Map Your World. The program has weekly lessons to help empower young people. It helps them explore issues that matter to them and bring about positive change.
The program was developed is based on the work of a group of young activists from Kolkata(Calcutta), India called the Daredevils, who work to improve their own neighbourhood. You can see more about that story here: mapyourworld.org
Participants in the program can expect to:
- Map their social community: uncovers its treasures and explore the challenges it faces
- Track a specific issue through an online survey
- Come up with solutions to change the problem
- Share their story locally and internationally
What are the benefits?
The voices of young people are often ignored. Our program helps young people understand that their work and opinions matter.
Young people who participate will benefit in a number of ways, including:
- Being empowered to make a difference
- Developing and implementing a change project
- Connecting with other global changemakers
- Becoming advocates for issues that matter to them
