About the Role

Family Life Op Shops are more than just retail spaces – they’re local hubs of connection, community and purpose. We’re looking for dynamic Retail Store Managers to lead our Community Op Shops with heart, energy and creativity.

As a Store Manager, you’ll be responsible for day-to-day store operations, inspiring your team of volunteers and staff, and ensuring our customers have a wonderful in-store experience. Beyond exceptional retail skills, we’re looking for someone who can build positive relationships, nurture volunteers, and bring fun, community-focused ideas to life.

If you’re a natural people leader with retail know-how and a passion for giving back, this could be the perfect fit.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Creating a welcoming, inclusive and cheerful store atmosphere for customers, volunteers, and the local community.
  • Leading, coaching and supporting a team of volunteers and staff.
  • Managing store operations including visual merchandising, stock rotation, cash handling, and reporting.
  • Driving sales and profit targets while delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Planning and hosting in-store events, VIP events, volunteer ‘tea and training’ and engaging promotions.
  • Working closely with our Volunteer Engagement team to support and grow our amazing volunteer base.
  • Ensuring the store operates safely and efficiently in line with Family Life’s policies and values.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven retail management experience – ideally in apparel, homewares or second-hand retail.
  • Confidence in leading people, especially volunteers, with empathy, warmth and clear communication.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to juggle priorities in a busy, people-focused environment.
  • A knack for creative merchandising, promotions and events.
  • A community-minded attitude and a genuine passion for making a difference.
  • Solid tech skills and the ability to embrace new systems and processes.
