Volunteer Training
Depending of the area in which volunteers choose to work, additional training is provided. For volunteers who are working in non-service delivery areas (such as administration, fundraising and governance), there are opportunities to further your skills through on-the-job experience and mentoring.
In service delivery volunteering, such as Family Support, additional training is provided before commencement of volunteer duties. The agency staff will work closely with you, providing ongoing support and supervision.
Furthermore, there are opportunities available to all volunteers for training as part of the Family Life learning and development calendar.
Examples of recent topics covered in training include:
- Post-natal depression
- Aboriginal Cultural Competency
- Suicide prevention skills
- Drug and alcohol information
- Dealing with aggressive clients
