School Focused Youth Service
SFYS Bayside/Kingston was established in 1998 as part of the Government's
response to the recommendations of the Suicide
Prevention Taskforce to develop a coordinated service response to students
and young people
at risk.
The aim of SFYS is to develop an integrated
service response for young people who are
at risk of developing behaviour that may make them vulnerable to suicide
and attempted suicide, or
who are displaying behaviour which require support
and intervention.
SFYS Objectives
- To establish collaborative structures and mechanisms between
schools and the relevant youth service
and community services, including welfare,
health and mental health services.
- To provide
linkages for agencies and schools which have
a client base of young people
and which directly support young people.
- To improve linkages, cohesiveness and
integration of service provision for young
people displaying
'at risk' behaviour.
- To purchase services to meet gaps in the current
service system as identified at the local
level.
Brokerage Funding
Brokerage funding for Schools and Agencies to run projects is currently
fully allocated. Additional funds may become available later in 2005
or next year.
