Help for Young People

Family Life believes every child and young person has the right to a happy healthy life and the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We provide a range of services to encourage this, ranging from individual support and counselling through to community education and engagement.

To help young people develop resilience and personal skills, we provide family counselling and outreach services, mediation, housing services and opportunities to undertake community activities including workplace training. We also work with youth and their families to promote healthy eating, study skills, safety and strong community networks.

All services are conducted by trained and qualified professionals. Case management is available for children in collaboration with their parents (or primary care givers). Client evaluations consistently report the benefits and life changes which flow from the professional services provided by Family Life.

Individual support is also available for young people. Family Life youth workers are available to meet young people out in the community - in 'neutral territory'. The meeting place might be a coffee shop, the beach, a school, an office or at home - somewhere not threatening. Where appropriate, Family Life incorporates a 'whole of family' approach to encourage involvement. Problems that children and young people may experience can relate to friendships, family, school, sexuality, mood changes or eating troubles. Remember, no problem is too big when it is shared.
