Open Garden Day 2004 - Hampton

Sunday 24 October 2004

In 2004 five Hampton families graciously opened their gardens to the public. Blessed by beautiful weather, 700 guests walked form garden to garden enjoying the day.

Organised by a team of wonderful volunteers, the Family Life Open Gardens was a huge success, not only in terms of raising $14,000 for counselling and support services, but for the extraordinary community spirit it generated.

Many people commented on the pleasure they experienced in strolling throughout their neighbourhood and catching up with friends and neighbours.

With water conservation being on everyone's mind, there was great interest in the water saving talks and features.

The Family Life volunteer spirit was alive and well with 70 volunteers assisting with making over 800 delicious cappuccinos, selling tickets and supervising the pools.

Sponsorship from Citywide Solutions and significant support from 'Be a Bayside Water Saver' (A South East Water initiative developed in partnership with Bayside Council) and David Marshall First National Real Estate helped to make the day so successful.
